The GTE Young Giants Ambassador program runs every financial year between March and February months Through the Program GTE partners with young South African candidate, who serves as the Ambassador for a duration not exceeding Twelve (12) months

During this period, the candidate focuses on one of the services categorise of GTE Institute under a theme agreed between the ambassador and the company.

The 2025/26 GTE Young Giants Ambassador (YGA) is the first to be rolled out, (a lot of learning curves and new discovering having been encountered). Under normal circumstances, there is a stringent process followed before a successful candidate is appointed to reign.

To be selected as an ambassador, GTE follows some stringent process which would commence in August prior to the new financial year. The candidates follow a specific process which would include among others submission of endorsements from various community stakeholders like church leadership, school Principal as well as peers and public voting.

Motivations are submitted, leading to a shortlisting and selection of finalists. One candidate per Province is shortlisted to contest in a form of a debate and speech presentation before a panel of adjudicators and an audience. The Ambassador would be selected, announced and crowned on the basis of highest scoring by the adjudicators.

The appointed candidate should be available for the program for the entire duration without participating in other commitments including academic, travel and work commitments. They should further more be willing to participate in various campaigns including among others a possibility of being featured on various television programs as well as marketing roles for sponsors

The opportunity to participate is any part of the program is open to South African youth as well as foreign nationals holding legal documentation to be in the country and allowed to participate is similar opportunities by the laws of the country. All participants should be residing in the country at the time of application. It is the responsibility of the participants to ensure that they fully meet the requirements, failing which penalty may be imposed

During their period of reign, the candidate selects from one of the GTE programs that aim at empowering youth. The programs include:

  1. GTE Junior Giants
  2. GAP Year Booster
  3. GTE Legacy Builder

The ambassador may further more selects an angle they will focus on, given that each program is wide in its nature and may not be addressed in its totality, all at once.

Any young person between the ages of Eighteen -to- Twenty-Four (18 to 24) years may apply to participate as the program beneficiary. The selection is on a first-come basis, for as long as one meets the requirement. The candidate should at least be doing Grade 11 at the time of application. Having completed matric will be an added bonus.

The participation does not come at any cost, however there would be some opportunities that may require money contribution to participate in, or access. Some of the programs are mandatory, especially those that are identified as the “Acts of kindness”. The candidate may elect to not participate in those that may be listed as optional

 

    • The Ambassador enjoys all benefits due to all participants, including a paid-contract for the duration of their reign, as well as a bonus pay-out at the end of their term

Each year, various sponsors are identified and approached to support the reigning ambassador’s plan.
The sponsorship arrangements entered into is designed in such a manner that it is open to also benefit beneficiaries and not only the ambassador.

There is a range of benefits associated with participation. These may include among others preferential prices on various products and services offered by the partners and sponsors.

Application for the 2026/27 GTE YGA opens on Wednesday 1 October 2025.
